e-Nuts

Look at this link and tell me what you think.
What does this say to the world? What does he really hope to gain from this besides money? To me, it's just another sad state of "Carnival Christianity."

This is a real shame. It's just showing that everyone has their price: including Christians. We are just as willing as anyone else to sell ourselves out for the love of money.

Ten Shekels and a Shirt anyone?

Maybe this is a weak attempt at being "relevant" or to get some attention for his "ministry", but the result is still the same: a mockery of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

I don't know this guy, nor have I heard him preach, but you gotta wonder about his motivation - based on the photo's and the e-bay stunt alone.

And the world is still parishing...

I sent the guy a "general question about the product" on ebay and asked:

"Since when did the work of the Lord get sold out to the highest bidder? I thought it was about ministry, not the love of money."

I'll update you guys when and if he replies.

This pastor wrote me back and his name is Chad Smith. Here is what he said,

"First thank you for taking the time to write us and we
can understand your concern . We ask that you keep us in your prayers. We
don't have to write this letter to defend ourselves. We can clearly hear
from God. We have followed his voice for the past fifteen years. We will
continue to listen to his voice and follow his direction. Anyone with common
sense and a business mind knows that this is a way to get our resumes out to
churches. We see it no difference than putting our resume on a web site that
potential churches would download all of our information for free. Clearly
you have misunderstood or taken this wrong. We have received hundreds of
emails from churches, pastors, and Christians from around the world yes I
said around the world telling us what a way to get your resume on the top of
the stack. So, Hopefully this will shed some light so you can see clearly
what our intentions are. We are trying to find the church God has for us. So
we ask that you join with us in prayer that God will lead us to a our place
called home.

In His Grip,

The Smith Family"

JSU,

I am going to direct my comments to the pastor's response.

>>We

So, does that make what you do off-limits to anyone's questions?
Or is this a "the Lord has led me to do this" trump card?

>>Anyone with common
sense and a business mind knows that this is a way to get our resumes out to churches.

Since when did the church become a business?

>>We see it no difference than putting our resume on a web site that potential churches would download all of our information for free. Clearly you have misunderstood or taken this wrong.

If this is the case then list it on Monster.com or some other job/resume listing site, not eBay.

So what happens when you go to your church that you have chosen as the highest bidder and things get old? The honeymoon is over, then what?

Then the church could fire back that they have "purchased" you and you have no right to leave.

This is shameful or as I said in the post...Carnival Christianity.

"In His Grip..." Somebody's obviously squeezing too hard. This is sickening.

DT,
This a genuine problem facing the church today. Seems like a lot of pastors lack the direction from God or following direction from wrong places. On an unrelated topic, will you be able to comment on the following? What are your thoughts on human microchips that many are proposing? What about conspiracy theorists who say 9/11 is the making of globalists who want to control the world? (infowars.com) Is it time to really watch every move of the government?

dk,

What is your opinion about microchips? The website you mentioned comes across as alarmist and conspiracy laden.

DT,
To me, microchips very much sound like the mark of the beast!! As the Antichrist would then have the power to stop people buy/sell. So amazing that such things that were prophesied 2000 years ago and possible scorned off by unbelievers are a possibility now.

Yes, the site is conspiracy laden, but contains information that you wouldn't see in mainstream media.
