While some have gone wandering in the wilderness of liberal unorthodoxy, others are simply trying to divorce themselves from some of the earthly traditions of American evangelicalism and are seeking to engage the lost where they are. Jesus did the very same thing. We don't want to "sacrifice Truth for the sake of unity" but we also don't want to "throw the baby out with the bathwater."

Thanks for wrestling with these issues.Natehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09374701659283138533noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29190761.post-33607317136721031392007-08-07T09:05:00.000-04:002007-08-07T09:05:00.000-04:00nate c.What we are aiming for is scriptural founda...nate c.
What we are aiming for is scriptural foundation and practice.
There is nothing in the Bible that suggests we sacrifice Truth for the sake of unity. The apostles did not condone or practice such sloppy orthodoxy.
Division is not always a bad thing. Look to the roman catholic abomination for a good example of "united" authority, and practice.
Is that what we are aiming for?

Matthew 10:
34 "Do not think that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I have not come to bring peace, but a sword. 35 For I have come to set a man against his father, and a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law. 36 And a person’s enemies will be those of his own household. 37 Whoever loves father or mother more than me is not worthy of me, and whoever loves son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me."
Jesus Christ

(I suggest reading the whole of Matt 10 as the greater context speaks volumes.)approvedworkmanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16549993711638263022noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29190761.post-30817587608406489332007-08-07T01:11:00.000-04:002007-08-07T01:11:00.000-04:00Strikes me as clever, well-done, hateful and divi...Strikes me as clever, well-done, hateful and divisive. The church should be putting its efforts into saving souls not slaying one another. The church should be its own best critic, I'll agree, and while I suspect those creating these posters are believers, I would not be wholly shocked if they were not and were simply enjoying playing on our tendency to divide and decease.

I got a flyer awhile back from a church that said, "When you go to church here, you'll KNOW you've been to church. We have stained glass, we sing the old hymns and we only read from the King James Bible." Is this what we're aiming for?Natehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09374701659283138533noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29190761.post-82809600364339419492007-08-06T22:47:00.000-04:002007-08-06T22:47:00.000-04:00oh, these posters are amazing!
